My letter to the mayor

November 28, 2008

So I have sent an email to the mayor to let him know about his Christmas tree.  I figured I would at least get my 2 cents in.  I have of course removed my address and i am being nice enough to take out the last name of my landtwits….that is what i will call them in this instead of their name

Dear Mayor Meyers:

I thought you might be interested to know a little bit more about the tree that was given to you to be your Mayor’s Christmas Tree this year.  I doubt the Landtwits told you the whole story.  The tree was from myaddress.  That is where my family lives.  We have been renting this house from the Landtwits for 5 1/2 years.  My daughter is 5 now.  She has always had that tree in her front yard.  My 15 year old son has played under the tree with friends and now did with his sister.  The Landtwits barely told us that they had given the tree away.  They had promised to let us know when it was happening, which they did not.  My husband happened to be telecommuting that day and so went out to get pictures.  Do you know what happened then?  Our landlords of 5 1/2 years asked my husband if he was with the newspaper.  I had to bring my daughter home that evening to her favorite tree gone.  She was devastated.  She actually has cried several times since the Landtwits first told us the tree would be going.  We also offered them extra rent to save the tree.  During our discussions with Mrs. Landtwit about the tree being given away she said that it had become an “eyesore” anyway.  So she would replace it with ornamental trees in our yard this spring.  I am very happy that they thought so much of you to give you an EYESORE of a tree for your Fundraiser.

I am also sitting in front of a fairly large window now that is no longer blocked from the elements like it was.  This house is fairly old and drafty, but was kept fairly insulated by that tree.  I guess that is why people planted trees in the first place.  Real trees provide shade in the summer and a windbreak all year round.

And yes, I do understand that I am JUST the renter and it was THEIR property, but I thought you might like to know a little more about your Christmas Tree and the fact that it used to be the Christmas Tree in my family’s front yard.  We even had songs to the tree.

Sincerely,

Whichferret

I don’t know what this will do.  It could have no impact at all.  It could also turn out that the Landtwits are best friends with the mayor or something like that and so we may be homeless or something. But what the hell…I had to rant.  This is just fucked up

Hope all is good with everyone else

So today my landlords made my daughter cry

November 26, 2008

Well today was the day that the giant pine tree in our yard was chopped down to become the Mayor’s Christmas Tree.  We have lived here for 5 1/2 years and my daughter is 5 so she has always known this tree to be in our front yard.  Our landlords have said that this tree had become an “eyesore” because of how tall it had become.  So if it is sooooo gawds awful then why exactly does the Mayor want it?  But seriously, when we got home tonight and the tree was gone and NEVER COMING BACK my daughter burst in to tears.  It took us a while to calm her down tonight and I am not sure how long this will go on every time we go out and she gets reminded that the tree is gone.  I will post pictures later…you will not believe how big this tree was.  No one ever did until they got to our house and then they said “Wow, you were right, that is a BIG tree.”

I don’t know what to do now.  Besides of course the fact that we are looking for somewhere to move whenever we can.  Because these people have proven that they are just wrong….oh yeah, while the tree was being removed my husband was out taking pictures and the landLORDS were there too.  They asked my husband if he was there taking pictures for the NEWSPAPER!  We have lived in this house for 5 1/2 YEARS!!!  And these people have no idea who the hell we are apparently.  Or I guess they hoped they scheduled the tree removal for while we would be gone since they knew we LOVED the tree.  Really they are just WRONG!

Oh and as you can guess I miss the tree too…it was a great tree.

Imagine that a Nature loving, tree hugger ferret

So there was a house fire in my neighborhood

November 25, 2008

So tonight there is someone without a house.  At least for a while.  The house may not be a total loss, but there is some damage.  I guess the fire started outside from what the fire people told me when I went to check about red-cross.  I made sure that the fire fighters knew that my family would also help if the guy needed.  My son said that last he knew there was one guy who lived there with a cat.  The fire guy said the occupant was out front last he knew, but I don’t know about the cat yet.  Will let you know if I hear.  It is too cold out for this btw.

Just sitting around waiting

November 24, 2008

Well I am just waiting to hear if I get to write for one the the papers here.  They will let the people who made it know in late December.  And then announce in January in the paper.  Sounds like they have tons of people try for this so I probably have a snowballs chance.  But I knew that already.  Probably better to just stay on a blog no one reads anyway

I am a broken record

November 16, 2008

So I am fairly certain I am a broken record.  I just keep saying the same things over and over again.  I have been saying these things for 7 years now.  My step-son is broken and he is breaking me.  Add to that the 90 year old paralyzed guy and a 5 year old and I just plain don’t really have anything to talk about.  I think the only other thing I have talked about is politics and no one wants to hear about that any more…if they ever did.  I mean people do ask how the kids are doing and you can give some fun updates on the 5 year old, but how far can you go on pre-school?  And then when you go into the 9th grader who is flunking 2 classes, barely seems to even care about scouts now, and still goes to see his crazy mom every Wed and every other weekend you seriously lose people.  And I can’t blame them.  He also does things to try and make sure that his parents are irritated all the time.  It seems that he is one of those kids who is only happy when his parents are horked off; it gives them some sense of control.  Fucked up huh?

So anyway, that is just a taste of the broken record that keeps having to play.  And I know that everyone around me is tired of it.  And I know I am tired of it.  And I really wish I had something interesting to add to the conversation.  But I am not sure I do anymore

Looking for relevance

Words

But why does anyone even bother?

Ah the fun of words

November 9, 2008

So have you ever noticed that as long as you think you are kidding you can call people names?  And as long as everyone else thinks that the joke was probably funny you are the one that was wrong?  I am really tired of being told how wrong I am because I spoke up.  Or maybe I haven’t spoken up enough so when I do it really shocks the crap out of some people.  Yes I know, me not speak up?  Have you noticed that I am anonymous on here?  There is a reason for that.  And yes sometimes and in some settings I am outspoken, but in other settings I revert back to a shell.  And I have had many over the years.  Many of us probably have.  And since in my family I have pretty well always felt like a black sheep(if I was even worth that much) it is really hard for me to get past that I guess.  So now I spoke up about getting my feelings hurt and I am the one that is wrong.  Oh and these same people want family feuds over….but they are unwilling to admit that they are the ones that caused them in the first place.  At least, I did get an apology from the original person, but am now being attacked by everyone else.  But I guess that is to be expected.

Going to go evict a turtle

Wow there is still Olympics to talk about !

YES WE DID!!!!!!!

November 5, 2008

Oh my GOD!!!!  I don’t know if I even have words big enough for this election result.  Barack OBAMA is the 44th PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.  I hoped and prayed and worked for this day.  But I also have to say that I was cynical after the stolen elections the last 2 times.  Yes I do believe that firmly.  No I am not afraid to say it.  Never really was actually.  Even if it meant my file got thicker.  *wave at agents*

Now I can say that I was part of taking our country in a new direction after it being in the dark for so long.  I hope my kids and grandkids get to know exactly how wonderful this truly was.  It can not ever happen again that we go back like we did in the reconstruction….stopping the reconstruction and instead reinvented history and just denied people their rights again.

But for now I am just going to be happy and let it all soak in and CELEBRATE!!!!

One shining moment in the sadness-Loss of Toot

November 4, 2008

From Slog a blog it has been reported that Toot’s absentee ballot was received and since it was cast while she was alive it will count.  This has come from the elections office in Hawaii.  Politico is lending some credibility to this story.   So I for one am hoping that this is true.  It should in fact be true, but I have become so very cynical about the whole election as it is that it is hard to believe in anything right now.

I am just trying to keep the faith that Toot is up there smiling down knowing the answer already
